OUR STORY
Chabad Glen Eira was established in 1999 to serve the Jewish community of Caulfield.
Chabad Glen Eira is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of affiliation or prior level of knowledge. Its sole purpose is to create a warm, welcoming environment to explore and experience Judaism's warm and relevant spiritual inspirations in a non-judgmental and inviting atmosphere.
Our centre provides a warm, empowering and exciting environment for families and individuals to grow, learn and connect to each other and to our Jewish heritage.
Since its inception, Chabad Glen Eira strives to meet the needs of the community with religious services, and social events, as well as an array of programming.

ACCREDITATIONS
Government Assessment and Rating
The Government assessment and rating process allows childcare services the chance to show how well they compare to the benchmarks set by the National Quality Standard (NQS). It allows for quality improvement and ensures that all children who are in Child Care Centres have stimulating, positive experiences and interactions which will foster all aspects of their development.
The assessment and rating process is conducted by authorised officers from the Victorian Department of Education, who check the service's overall quality, strengths and areas of improvement against the 7 quality areas of the NQS. Services are usually given 1 to 2 weeks notice of an inspection.
Our centre has consistently received EXCEEDING with each Government Accreditation, most recently in May 2024.
(An Exceeding Service goes beyond the requirements of the National Quality Standard in at least 4 of the 7 quality areas, with at least two of these being quality areas 1, 5, 6, or 7)
Achievement Program
The Achievement Program helps create a healthier environment for working and learning. The program focuses on areas like healthy eating, physical activity, and mental health & wellbeing. This is aligned to the World Health Organization's model for Health Promoting Schools and Healthy Workplaces. The program is supported by the Victorian Government and delivered by Cancer Council Victoria.
By joining, we are part of a community including over 1,000 Victorian workplaces, 700 schools and 1,400 early childhood services who have already signed up to the Achievement Program.
The 6 areas are: Physical Activity, Mental Health & Wellbeing, Tobacco, Alcohol & Other Drugs, Healthy Eating & Oral Health, Sun Protection and Safe Environments.
We have completed all 6 benchmarks for the Achievement Program (May 2023).
This has been a huge project with review and updating, conversations, creating and discovering new information to lift our Centre’s overall professionalism.

OUR PHILOSOPHY
We acknowledge and pay respect to the traditional owners of the land and the Indigenous Australian culture.
What we value
Our crèche is characterized by a commitment to transmit Jewish values that are taught by the Torah and are central to our philosophy. These values include: love of our fellow man, respect for parents; teachers and oneself, observance and appreciation of Mitzvot (good deeds) and a love of learning. Based on the culture and tradition of our families and communities, these Jewish beliefs and values are embedded in our service. Our program also provides a healthy balance of social opportunities, Jewish traditions as well as life skills, to promote the child’s inclusive development to our community and families, regardless of gender, ability, family structure or cultural background. We are committed to supporting children’s rights and values, building strong relationships with families through inclusive and equitable practices.
We embrace the New Child Safety Standards (July 2022) for all children to feel safe and secure, and uphold the 11 standards as indicated in our Child Safe Standards Policy. Chabad Glen Eira has zero tolerance for child abuse. We are committed to providing a child safe environment where children and young people are safe and feel safe, and their voices are heard about decisions that affect their lives. Particular attention will be paid to cultural safety of Aboriginal children, children from diverse and/or linguistic backgrounds or children with a disability.
We respect and abide by the Education and care services, National regulations and law at all times. Our ethical decisions will be guided by the Early Childhood Australia Code of Ethics and the United Nations Convention on the rights of a child. Our service embraces the Early Years Learning Framework and strives to exceed the National Quality Standards.
We recognise
We believe that children learn best when they are able to interact with others in a nurturing and collaborative learning environment. Play is the foundation on which learning occurs; therefore, it is supported in our program and through our intentional interactions. Children are encouraged to explore their own ideas and thoughts, and have agency in decisions that affect them. Educators share in this learning journey by extending play through modelling and expansion, scaffolding and open-ended questioning. Children are treated with respect as we try to see the world through their eyes. Children are seen as able learners and our curriculum aims to facilitate and support their learning and celebrate their individuality. As lifelong learners, our continuous practice of critical reflection enhances our teaching and learning.
We will
Provide children with an inspiring and inclusive environment where children feel safe, secure and supported to be curious and grow in confidence to explore and learn.
We collaborate with, and build respectful relationships with families and children. We listen to our children’s voices, encourage them to express their ideas and thinking and are responsive to these. We provide support to children to develop social and emotional skills, direct them with language and model behaviours to help them gain deep knowledge.
